Patient Care NEPHROLOGY, HYPERTENSION, AND RENAL TRANSPLANTATION

We provide a wide range of inpatient and outpatient clinical services. These include inpatient acute dialysis, evaluation and management of fluid and electrolyte disorders, renal transplantation, outpatient clinics, and the management of patients with end-stage renal disease.
Nephrology is a subspecialty of Internal Medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the kidney. The kidney performs many critical functions and Nephrologists maintain expertise in primary kidney disorders, but also the management of the systemic consequences of kidney dysfunction.

UF Health Dialysis Center

UF Health, in collaboration with DCI, provides high quality maintenance hemodialysis therapy in two locations in Gainesville. Additionally, our freestanding outpatient dialysis unit is available to provide care to our patients.

The nephrology and hypertension section at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center is a component of the integrated training program of the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension and Renal Transplantation at the University of Florida.

UF Health Rehab Hospital

We provide care for two inpatient rehabilitation centers, UF Health Rehab Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital. A variety of services are covered such as renal replacement therapy and management of acute kidney injury. We work closely with other providers in these centers with the goal of helping the patients have a smooth recovery and be discharged in their best state of health.

Specialty Clinics

The division of nephrology provides a wide range of outpatient clinical services. Every week, there are several general nephrology clinics that provide up-to-date and evidence-based care by faculty of the University of Florida for patients with a variety of kidney diseases such as chronic kidney disease, electrolyte disorders, and hypertension. In addition, there are a multitude of state-of-the art specialty clinics that provide care for specific renal diseases by clinicians that have expertise in those areas, often in collaboration with other specialties and disciplines.
