Admissions Overview
The Division of Nephrology Fellowship Program focuses its application season on exceptional candidates for four positions available starting July 1.  The positions available are for two years or three years.   While the two year track will be devoted to clinical rotations, fellows will be given ample opportunity to pursue bench and clinical research projects.  Three year research positions are also available during which the first two years will focus on clinical or basic research and the third year will focus on clinical rotations.  Individuals in the research tract will also be part of a Department Wide Medical Research Program.Admissions decisions are based on a number of factors, including internship and residency training, letters of recommendation, and suitability for our program.
Applications & Interviews
The Division of Nephrology typically receives over 200 applications annually for the four Nephrology Fellowship positions. The Fellowship Program accepts applications via the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). Application materials will only be reviewed within ERAS. Applications are reviewed beginning in December and invitations for interview are extended via the ERAS email PostOffice. Interviewing takes place between February and April. The Division of Nephrology participates in the National Resident Matching Program’s (NRMP) Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP) in Nephrology. Currently the Division of Nephrology accepts H1B and J1 visas. However, the institution (the University of Florida), and not the Division decides which visa statuses are acceptable. Hence, if the University of Florida opts to change which visas it sponsors, then it is conceivable that the Division will not accept applications from either J1 or H1B holders. For additional information regarding the ERAS application process, please download the applicant information sheet provided below or visit the AAMC page. ERAS Fellowship Application Process The Division of Nephrology opposes any form of discrimination against people on the basis of their gender, race, ethnic affiliation, physical handicaps, sexual orientation, age, religion, creed, or national origin.
