STONE AND URETERAL DIVERSION patient care

At University of Florida, we strive to provide this comprehensive care in the form of a multi-disciplinary stone clinic. We strongly believe that treatment of kidney stones is as important as having a plan to prevent their recurrence. This is best achieved when both surgical and medical teams are on board with the plan for the patient.

The incidence of kidney stones is increasing countrywide, but is particularly high in south-east states such as Florida and Georgia. The care of these patients is complex and spans across specialties such as urology and nephrology.

With this goal in mind, we established our multi-disciplinary stone clinic in 2015. This clinic is available to our patients twice a month. On the day of their visit, patients are seen concurrently by urology and nephrology specialists. Imaging and laboratory studies if needed, can be done on campus on the day of their visit, just prior to the appointment so the results are available by the time they see their physicians.
